Derby Dinner Playhouse is a theatrical entertainment leader in Indiana and the neighboring state of Kentucky, known for its professional-produced Broadway musicals and light-hearted comedies. Every dinner theater production is filled with that magic of lighting, costumes, live orchestral accompaniment, and fully professional performers. It has about 130 employees working in the restaurant and theater sections. Established in 1974, it's one of the oldest, largest and continuously operating professional dinner theaters across the country. For more than 45 years, this theatre has served southern Indiana and Kentucky by reaching more than 3 million people. In 1985 Carolyn Thomas chose to purchase the Indiana Dinner Theatre with partner Bekki Jo Schneider, who over the past 30 years, audience numbers have grown to over 200,000 spectators per year with over 10,000 subscribers. The theatre is currently run by producer Lee Buckholz and general manager Cynthia Knopp.
